Letters and comments

Two doors. A comment sits under a story — about 150 words, with a name and an email. A letter is for Opinion & Letters — about 250 words, real name and town. Both are held until the editor reads them. Hitting submit is not publication, and a comment is not a poll.

Peter Gorman reads what prints. We do not rewrite your note to make it nicer. We run it or we kill it. Obvious spam is rejected by a short rule check (honeypot, unsigned identity, link floods, duplicate body) before it reaches that desk. Everything else is held.

We kill unsigned notes and fake names; spam, ads, and campaign blasts; threats, harassment, and attacks on private people; libel that is obvious on its face; and notes that are not about the story. We do not kill a note because it disagrees with the paper.

If a comment does not appear, it is still in review or it did not run. A fact error in a story belongs in Corrections on this page, not in the comment box.

Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected within 48 hours. The story then carries a dated note saying what was wrong and what changed. Submit here — the form emails the newsroom on submit — or write talbotpatriot [at] proton.me so a single missed inbox does not consume the window.

If the button fails, email talbotpatriot [at] proton.me with the story URL, what is wrong, and how to reach you.

Everything else

Letters 250 words. Comments 150 words.

If the button fails, email talbotpatriot [at] proton.me with the same fields.
